Renovating your existing bathrooms is challenge enough. Choosing a paint color that will go with the tiles and other features may push you over the edge. We show you nine colors that will please most tastes and one in particular that will play down a 1960s blue bathroom.
Renovating your bathrooms and kitchens is one of the most important projects you can undertake. It makes total sense for you and also for prospective buyers or renters if that is your goal. Also if your budget is very limited or your bathroom needs a face lift, paint will work wonders and ofter overshadow those tiles that were popular in the 1960s.

We had four bathrooms that really needed a makeover. They were tired, dirty and very depressing. They included:
Cleaning Tips
All the bathrooms were old and dirty. So we used scrubbing bubbles and lots of elbow grease to clean the tiles. We also used a 50/50 solution of clorox bleach to deal with some mold in one of the bathrooms. This worked very well. Make sure to wear goggles and open a the windows for ventilation.
For the grout, we used hydrogen peroxide and baking soda with a toothbrush. Our efforts to clean some of the tile grout outside of the bath tub or shower area were less than satisfactory. So, we painted the grout with Benjamin Moore Simply White paint using a small artist's brush.
For the blue bathroom, we removed the blue tiles above the sink and drywalled. All the other blue tiles was left in place.
What colors we used

Our favorite color was the Ralph Lauren Cottonwood. It really played own the blue tiles. The Ralph Lauren Tangier Island was a stronger color and really worked well with those dull white tiles.
Our Results

Nevertheless, we hope they will help you with updating your bathrooms or even finding some great colors for a brand new bathroom.
The other colors that we think will work well in your bathrooms or even in other rooms are:

Vanity cabinet is repurposed
This project had a limited budget so we actually used an old kitchen cabinet. We cut out the back to accommodate the plumbing below the countertop and attached some molding. Then painted it. This saved about $199 for a new cabinet and kept the old cabinet out of the landfill.
Where did you get white vanity cabinet?
In the blue bathroom, you left the countertop but installed a white vanity. It looks good. Where did you get it?
