Porcelanosa's Mondart Vanity Cabinets for small bathrooms

Porcelanosa's new Mondart System of bathroom cabinetry and associated sinks are an interesting choice for small bathrooms. This is especially true if you put a premium on function and space and like clean modern lines and no clutter in your bathroom.

What's so special about Mondart?
First and foremost the Mondart System seems to be designed with the small city condo or apartment owner in mind. These owners have to make every bit of space work for them and do it in a way that will work each day and when they entertain. There are several things that set the Mondart System apart from your typical bathroom vanity cabinet. These include:

  • Perception of Space
  • Configurabilily and wear and tear
  • Hiding bathroom clutter and
  • Variety of colors and finishes

The Mondart System of cabinets float off the ground. This alone creates a perception of more space. This is pretty much in line with the entire line of Porcelanosa bathroom vanities that we mentioned in previous articles on bathrooms.

The cabinets come in 17.7", 23.6" and 35.4" cabinets. The cabinets can be arranged and stacked in any combination. This allows the home owner to create cabinetry that is just right for their specific needs. Hence, all the clutter and necessities of a single bathroom are conveniently stored and out of sight. This is especially useful in one bedroom city apartments and especially if you entertain a lot. Now you won't have to showcase what brand of shaving cream or lotion you use or need or throw everything in a plastic bag before your guests arrive.

Different configurations of the Mandart System

The photos provided by Porcelanosa are relatively stark and purposely show off the straight lines and right angles of the system. Think Cubism and Picaso. However, the cabinets come in Pardo Walnut, Siena Walnut and Tenue Walnut finishes to warm up your bathroom. If you are so inclined, you also can order lacquered doors in a large variety of colors.

To make this kind of bathroom work, you really have to factor in the into the entire system, such as a vessel sink and the faucet in the wall as well.

We don't have prices for the Mondart System so we suggest you contact your nearest Porcelanosa showroom for details and advice on how to build a system.

Cost Cutters
There are a number of ways to reduce your costs if you like the look of the Mondart System

  1. If you are handy, consider installing them yourself. See the Bob Vila floating cabinet video and detailed installation instructions.
  2. Call different Procelanosa showrooms in your area and ask about sales.
  3. Talk to the Porcelanosa sales associate about a discount. Sales associates or managers do have some discretion here, especially if your order includes wall and floor tiles. Don't be bashful. We are in a recession and it won't hurt to ask.
  4. Get your designer or contractor to purchase the cabinets. Traditionally designers and/or contractors get a discount at Porcelanosa which can range between 10-20 percent depending on the size of their orders and how regularly they purchase.
  5. Ask for free delivery of the cabinets.
  6. Seriously consider other brands of floating vanities
  7. Select a less expensive brand of vessel sink and faucet such as Kohler.

On a Tight Budget?
Consider using IKEA's VÄTTERN/ ANORDNA bathroom vanity system. You'll at least be getting the storage that most European bathroom layouts are famous for. We also found that many people improvize and repurpose IKEA cabinets (aka IKEA Hacks) to obtain the desired result. This requires moe work on your part, but until IKEA comes out with a floating vanity cabinet, it may be your only option short of building the cabinet yourself. Take a look at some what people are doing when it comes to floating cabinets.

Vanities

Wow, those are some really neat vanities. I don't think they are very practical though. I was thinking about getting something more like this Bathroom Vanity.

Why aren't those Mondart vanities practical

to rephrase a question why are yours better. Feel free to elaborate for the community.
