Lightwise pre made glass blocks in bathroom

Thank you for the site! Nice work,  I definitely love to learn. I am a landlord in arkansas.

The bath window at my house is a 40 year old, mildew ruined nasty window. I want to replace it with glass block. I want to use pittsburgh corning glass block. I have heard this is 1. ok and a great choice (your site), and that 2. p corning has many complaints and too NOT use it in bathrooms!

It is beautiful, i have it in a rent house bath window and I love it!! Please advise on your thoughts 1. Is it fine for bathroom windows? 2. DO you like/recommend the pittsburg corning lightwise pre made glass blocks??

Concerns about Lightwise glass block in bathrooms

We are very pleased with the Pittsburg glass blocks in our bathroom since installing it several years ago. These
were individual glass blocks that a mason installed. Unlike the lightwise pre made glass blocks, there's no frame on
ours.

First, we would recommend the Pittsburg Corning glass blocks. They're very good. No scratching or discoloration. I
am not sure about the Lightwise product since I have not used them. It definitely would save you on the installation
but I would be concerned with the framing. The question is will that frame hold up if the water from the shower constantly hits it over time? I guess it depends on the shower too. Is it a guest shower that's hardly ever used or is it the main shower in the house?

We searched on google for complaints associated with Pittsburg Corning. Some articles turned up but that dealt with
asbestos that the company made and there was an article regarding the solar reflective glass block has a metal oxide
coating on it. Also there may be more problems with their shower system as a result of improper insulation. I found
nothing on Lightwise which could mean it's too early to tell or the product is great.

I suggest you compare the Lightwise with the Single glass block. Which block is thicker and more important, the
total cost to install. Also take a close look at that frame. Is it going to hold up to water and moisture in the bathroom or after 10 years are you going to have to replace it.

A final concern is whether the 10 year warranty will be honored by PC. They may consider the use of their product in window over a bath tub or in a shower an improper use that voids the warranty.
