Where did the idea for Millennial Living come from?
Tom R started to do remodeling in early 2003. He had a terrible remodeling experience and learned a great deal. He decided to provide tips to others so they could get the best out of their remodeling projects and avoid problems. Tom also saw the need to integrate energy use into remodeling and home improvement and write articles on these subjects too.
Millennial Living is funded by Tom and has grown steadily since it started in 2003.
Why do people seem to like Millennial Living?
Quite simply we are easy to talk to and are very happy to answer questions and help people out. We encourage people to Ask Tom and also encourage people to comment on our articles and in the Forums. Our testimonials support this contention. We also provide very detailed articles and blog posts that people can understand on subjects they are interested in. The articles and blog posts are focused on helping people instead of trying to get them to buy stuff.
There are plenty of websites and TV shows like HGTV that deal with "eye candy" and the great results of a remodeling project. Then there are websites that deal with the DIY (do it yourself crowd). Millennial Living focuses on people who are interested in getting value for their money and achieving a great renovation that serves their needs. They may not comfortable with a hammer but they do care about how things are built and safety. Millennial Living also goes well beyond the typical general articles found on many websites.
We dig deep and cover situations and topics that our users are struggling with.

Tom plans on adding groups to allow users who are remodeling in specific metropolitan areas to find each other and to share information and resources.
How do you make money from Millennial Living?
We make enough money to pay for web hosting and routine matters. We don't have a much time to market and only a few text/banner advertisements from Google Adsense, Kontera, and others to generate revenue.
Tom researches and posts many articles on remodeling and energy. This takes time. In fact, it takes an average of 3-5 hours to research and write an article. He also helps many people when they get into trouble [see testimonials] and routinely answers questions via Ask Tom.
There is no fee for the content on the site or when Tom helps you. We only ask that you consider the following:
